Cosby – A Leicestershire Village is a series of new books (currently 2) by local author Brian Screaton about the south Leicestershire village of Cosby, where he has lived for more than fifty years. The books take the reader on a fascinating time-travelling tour around the village in days gone by. Book1 has 216 pages containing over 500 black and white and colour illustrations including vintage postcards and photographs, many of which have never appeared in print before. The history of the buildings and places depicted is explored, as well as the stories of some of the people and families who have lived in the village.

This is the first book of its kind about Cosby and will no doubt bring back many memories for local people, and introduce other readers to the intriguing history of this Leicestershire village. The centre of the village has been a conservation area for many years, and contains a considerable number of listed buildings. The village as a whole has also retained its essential character and identity, despite many changes.

Volume 2 is now on sale in Cosby at the Select Convenience Best-One store (The Paper Shop) on Croft Road, and the Co-op on Main Street. It is titled “Cosby – A Leicestershire Village – The Second Volume” and is £20 (cash only, please). It has 280 pages with lots of new stories, information and illustrations. Brian will be at the Cosby Library on Tuesday afternoons until Christmas 24, selling and signing copies of the book. (He was also at the Christmas Fayre at the Bunning Hall on the 23rd November).
